Als Komposition versteht man die Art und Weise, wie man die visuellen Elemente im Film anordnet. Die Anordnung von Charakteren und Objekten innerhalb des Bildes hat einen maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die Wahrnehmung der Zuschauer:innen. Durch geschickte Bildkomposition wird die Aufmerksamkeit auf bestimmte Details gelenkt. Auch Emotionen und Spannungsbögen werden durch die Komposition aufgebaut. In ihrem Workshop möchte die Filmregisseurin den Teilnehmer:innen die Kunst der Komposition näherbringen und ihnen ein besseres Verständnis darüber zu vermitteln, wie man auf der visuellen Ebene die Geschichte im Film erzählen möchte und warum.

Composition is the way in which visual elements are arranged in a film. The arrangement of characters and objects within the image has a significant influence on the perception of the audience. Skillful image composition draws attention to specific details. Emotions and arcs of tension are also built up through composition. In her workshop, the film director wants to introduce the participants to the art of composition and give them a better understanding of how one wants to tell the story on the visual level in the film and why.

Laurentine Marie Bayala is a Burkinabe film director who has been working in new media since 2008. She studied communication and journalism at the University of Ouagadougou, earned her master’s degree in documentary film at Gaston Berger University in Senegal, and studied film production at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Art- School of Film, Dance and Theatre (Arizona State University). Her film Jusqu’au Bout, which addresses violence against women, was awarded at the Ciné Droit Libre film festival and screened at FESPACO and on TV5 Africa in 2011. She won the International Organization of La Francophonie fund to make her short film The Fight Goes On. Bayala is also the project manager of the Opera Village Africa in Burkina Faso since 2022.
