For our land and bones. At the end of the world. Technology and waste – in our lands, our systems, our bones. Wandering through these spaces, she keeps asking: where is the space for healing? The film recounts this unequal struggle between the voices of the revolution and the fire of the militias.

Kantarama Gahigiri ist eine schweizerisch-rwandische Regisseurin, Autorin und Künstlerin. Sie erforscht Fragen zu Identität, Souveränität und Repräsentation im Film und arbeitet sowohl in Ostafrika als auch in der Schweiz. Mit ihrem Projekt Tanzanite nahm sie 2023 am Atelier Grand Nord teil. Terra Mater feierte Premiere auf der Berlinale 2023 und wurde 2024 bei Festivals wie IDFA und Sundance gezeigt.

Kantarama Gahigiri is a Rwandan-Swiss director, screenwriter, and artist. Her work explores identity, sovereignty, and representation in cinema, and she is active both in East Africa and Switzerland. Her project Tanzanite was selected for the Atelier Grand Nord in 2023. Terra Mater premiered at Berlinale 2023 and was shown at IDFA and Sundance in 2024.
